Slots Strategies

I wish I could tell you that I had a strategy to make you a long term winner at slots. However, the fact is that there is no such strategy. Most of us play slots for the pure entertainment value or to hit a jackpot to pay for our gambling trip or to hit one of those once in a lifetime progressive jackpots that can change our lives forever. That said, here are a few tips to increase your enjoyment of playing slots and bring your overall slot play close to a break even.

Join the slot club at every casino you play at. You can get discounts on rooms just by joining. I experienced this myself at Caesars in Vegas. All I did was sign up online for the slot club and call Caesars for a reservation and bingo! Room discount. Casinos love slot players! A 25cent slot player is valued the same as a $25 per hand blackjack player! Another bonus of joining the slot club is that you can insert your players card in the slot provided on the slot machine game and earn points for various comps like free meals, rooms and other merchandise!

Always read and make sure you understand the pay tables. All machines are not created equal! Pay attention. Also make sure that you know what it takes to qualify for jackpots and progressive jackpots if you are on a progressive machine.

Always play the maximum number of coins. The whole point of slot play is to win the jackpots. You want the full payout when you do. Play the maximum number of coins to get the higher payouts.

Player at the higher limit slots. The payout percentages are higher for $1 and $5 machines than they are for quarter slots or nickle slots. The reason for this is that the casinos can win more from the higher limit machines even with a greater percentage payout due to the fact that much more is being wagered.

Look for machines that are visible from high traffic areas. The payout percentages are not the same for all machines, even the same machines placed in different areas of the casino. Each machine can be set to different payout rates. The casinos want to draw you in to play. For that reason, they want people in line to cash out their winnings, those going into and out of the buffet to hear and see people winning so that they will want to play as well. Therefore, higher paying machines are placed next to high traffic areas and where people naturally gather.

Don't be afraid to ask the slot host for a comp. All they can say is no and they will not volunteer them. You would be suprised how little play it takes to get a comp to the buffet.

Above all, have fun. If you start feeling down or frustrated, take a break. Go have a drink, get something to eat or leave. You are there to enjoy yourself. Keep it fun.
